The next few years were me essentially trying to stall rebellions while I hired a Sunni military advisor to get more men into my regiments and be well-prepared for the successionists. The fun thing that happened to me is that I've managed to win that war and took their land from them, splitting the last remains of their country into a minor power.
I got back to playing Europa Universalis IV and I almost screwed up my second war with Novgorod because I poorly timed the declaration of war and my manpower into grinding down regiments to their combat-ineffective numbers that I ended up with zero troops to reinforce them.
